Dr. Paul Lanthois: the energy behind The Work Life Balance Foundation
B.Sc., M. Chiro., Grad Dip Chiro Sport Sc.

chiropractor, kinesiologist, author, speaker, married father of three

Paul LanthoisDr. Paul Lanthois grew up as a very sports-minded and active child but was susceptible to frequent colds, flu’s and migraine headaches. A visit to his local chiropractor at the age of 14 changed his life as the incidence of colds, flu and migraines drastically reduced.

At age 16, a year as an exchange student in Indonesia resulted in a massive dietary and lifestyle change. During this time Dr. Lanthois couldn’t help but notice an extra spring in his own step. But upon returning to Australia and returning to his previous habits he noticed that his own energy began to wane. And looking around his friends and family he began to realize how so many people were too tired to do the things that they really wanted to do. This was no more apparent than with his own father. He watched the frustration build and the passion for life dwindle in his still-young father’s eyes as his father's body struggled to keep up with his mind. This experience ignited a spark within Dr. Lanthois that continues to this day…a passion to make a difference to the health of as many people as he could.

Dr. Lanthois completed a Bachelor of Science degree at Adelaide University, majoring in anatomy and exercise physiology. He completed his Masters of Chiropractic at Macquarie University in Sydney and was also in the first group of chiropractors worldwide to complete the post-graduate Sports Chiropractic degree: the Graduate Diploma in Chiropractic Sports Science. He has also become certified in Applied Kinesiology with the International College of Applied Kinesiology. Dr. Lanthois is a member of The International Foundation For Health and Nutrition and The American College of Sports Medicine.

Dr. Lanthois has presented at a variety of businesses such as Optus Telecommunications, St. George Bank, Darrell Lea Chocolates, Kogarah and Salisbury City Councils.

For two years, Dr. Lanthois was coordinator of health management at Action Coach "Billionaire In Training" Entrepreneur Seminars (formerly Action International, ranked #1 Business Consulting Franchise Of The Year 2006).

Dr. Lanthois has worked with many sporting teams including the championship winning New South Wales cricket team, the All-African Games, the World Police and Fire Games, Pro Beach Volleyball, Surf Life Saving events and Judo tournaments.

The hectic and punishing schedule of running a successful chiropractic practice plus the long hours of working at the large number of sporting events eventually took its toll on Dr. Lanthois. The resultant burn out and near-breakdown that Dr. Lanthois describes as “one of the scariest but most rewarding experiences of my life” forced Dr. Lanthois to completely reassess his own life and lifestyle.

He focused his own studies more on prevention and lifestyle, emotional and stress management and also explored the more alternative healing arts and eastern health philosophies. Dr. Lanthois went to great lengths to sort out fact from fiction, becoming his own walking laboratory as he tested different health strategies. He experienced a ‘spiritual alignment’ first-hand (something he wasn’t really open to previously) and he has literally walked barefoot over hot coals and broken glass to get a full appreciation of the power and energy that exists inside of us.

The results of his journey and studies were that breathtaking that even his patients started to notice the difference with him, with one person describing the new Dr Lanthois as “pathologically happy”. In response to many questions from his patients, Dr. Lanthois developed a series of workshops on cutting edge nutrition, managing emotional stress, exercise, work/life balance and boosting energy and losing fat permanently that he shared with thousands of patients, community groups and businesses with many life changing results. With this renwed vigour in his life, his own business continued to soar.

The great thing about these workshops was that due to their interactive nature and great patient feedback he was able to come up with hundreds of innovative solutions to most of the daily challenges to a healthy lifestyle. The end result was that Dr. Lanthois had developed a step-by-step proprietary process to recharge the weary and re-ignite the burned-out.

Following the death of his father age 68 in 2006 and after 15 years of full time private practice, Dr. Lanthois sold his successful chiropractic practice and moved with his wife, Angela and three young children (Aleisha, Daniel and Erika) to the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia. There he spends his time as a passionate father, author, chiropractic locum,  corporate health speaker and lifestyle presenter.

Dr. Lanthois launched the Work Life Balance Foundation to post his ideas and strategies on improving business performance and morale thorugh enhancing health and vitality. In addition, From Burnout to Balance in Four Weeks is Dr. Lanthois' first book. He is also a contributing author of the"Thank God I..."book series.

Currently Dr. Lanthois features fortnightly as a presenter on ABC Coast FM 90.3 and 95.3.
